You see it all the time. Someone tiptoes into the world of natural health and hesitantly tries a holistic remedy that they were told about or read about. And when it doesn't seem to help them in the immediate way they want or expected, they dub whatever product they used with the term "snake oil".
CBD Oil is one of those natural products that some people put into the "snake oil" category. They tried it once, it didn't help them, therefore everything they've read everywhere about CBD is just plain wrong.
But did you know that there are very good, legitimate reasons that CBD Oil may not have worked for that person? Did you know there are factors that may make CBD less effective for you than someone else, and that those factors may be why CBD Oil might not work for you at all?
5 Reasons Why CBD Oil Might Not Work For You
1) Genetics and Biology
Genetics and biology have a big part to do with how CBD Oil interacts with your body.
CBD Oil interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), and some people are born with more natural endocannabinoids than others.
Roughly 20% of Americans have a certain genetic mutation that increases the levels of natural endocannabinoids in their bodies. For those people that do have this mutation, they’ll naturally feel less anxious than most other people without the mutation.
On the flip side--if you happen to have this specific mutation--the extra natural cannabinoids could be one reason why CBD Oil might not work for you.
Females also tend to be more naturally sensitive to cannabinoids in general, including CBD, which means that women are more likely to benefit from pain relief, for instance. Men are also generally larger than women, so they would need higher doses of CBD to alleviate the same chronic pain.
2) Physical and Psychological Health
The physical and psychological health of a person also plays a huge part in how effective CBD Oil can be.
It's a pretty obvious observation, but CBD works best in people who need it the most. You don't give cold medicine to someone who isn't sick, and CBD works the same way. People with major endocannabinoid gaps are the ones who will feel significant relief and effect from CBD versus those people who don't.
People with medical conditions, for instance, have altered biochemistry; and when they consume CBD, it produces a number of chemical interactions in the body which work to restore their internal homeostasis.
CBD will also be far more effective if you suffer from anxiety, depression, PTSD or another issue that is affecting your mental health. There's a chemical imbalance in the brain that's partly to blame for these mental issues. When you use CBD, it can help towards restoring the brain's chemical balance, which should make you feel much better.
3) Biochemistry and Lifestyle
Everyone is wired differently.
Some people are much more sensitive to CBD than others. This is another reason why CBD Oil might not work for you. Factors such as genetics, stress, diet, and lifestyle impact how your ECS works.
If CBD isn’t working for you, take a closer look at your diet and pay particular attention to the number of fatty acids you eat. If your diet is low in fatty acids, especially omega-3, your ECS will not function at a high level, and CBD will be more effective. This is because CBD is a form of fatty acid; if you’re already consuming a lot of it, CBD won't be as effective for you as in someone who is lacking in fatty acids.

In some cases, you’ll get companies that claim their bottles have 1,000mg of CBD but only have 200mg or even less. Without lab results, how can you tell?
If you are using a quality CBD brand, are you taking enough of it? Are you taking it every day? There is no "one size fits all" dose when it comes to CBD, but there are some factors that you can use to figure out the right dose for you. Always begin with a low dose, and then keep increasing it gradually until you feel an effect.
If you've been taking it for a while, another reason why CBD Oil might not work for you is that you've developed a tolerance to it.
It makes sense that if a person's used 100mg a day for five years, then it won’t have the same effect as when they first started using it.
One of the best and probably the easiest methods of decreasing CBD tolerance is to take a break from it. Even a couple of weeks should be enough to disrupt your body's homeostasis and ensure your body reacts positively to the CBD again.
