Summer is officially here and with that comes all the sun and fun! Summer is a time to have new adventures, maybe even travel somewhere if you’re lucky but it’s also a time to unwind and relax. Better yet, do it with your new summer BFF CBD!
What is CBD?
Before you get to know your new Summer BFF, you have to know what exactly it is. CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of the hundreds), by itself it does not get you “high.”
It is also 100% legal and is commonly used to address anxiety, insomnia, may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain and more. CBD has risen in popularity but before trying your new summer BFF make sure to talk with your doctor and get the okay!
Now that you know all the basic info we’re gonna tell you why CBD is your new Summer BFF.
1. Summer Sun and Sunburn
Is there anything less fun than after a day of having fun in the summer sun than a sunburn? Sunburn can be painful and really put a damper on your plans. CBD potentially can help with that. CBD is used as an anti-inflammatory which targets the main sunburn-related pain. Not only that but CBD can help reduce the pain associated with the sunburn.
We know at Life Activated Brands we use our topical CBD on our sunburns and have felt a cooling sensation similar to Aloe Vera. Try it for yourself as there is NO HARM is trying a CBD topical to help with your sunburn. Let your summer BFF help you and your sunburn out!
2. CBD Cocktails
Who doesn’t love a good cocktail? Especially when it’s summertime and warm out. Do you know what we love to do as the sun sets? Enjoy a nice cocktail. Take your cocktail game up a notch by adding a few drops of CBD to your cocktail, wine or even mocktail. It won’t mess with your booze buzz but add a layer of taste to your drink of choice. One of our go-to CBD cocktails is this Margarita recipe from Goop. We add a bit extra of simple syrup as we like it a bit sweeter but that’s just us!
3. The Rollercoaster of Aches and Pains
Fact is theme parks are a great way to spend your summer days. Whether you’re with family, friends or your loved one. No matter how good of shape you are in a day of intense walking and standing on them will hurt. By taking CBD oil it may bring you some relief and can reduce inflammation with any side effect. Better yet, rub CBD balm onto your feet BEFORE you start your day of rollercoasters and you should notice a difference in the evening!
Have a pesky blister? CBD oil is packed with not just anti-inflammatory properties but antibacterial ones too. After cleaning your blister, use a bit of CBD oil and blot the affected area gently with a cotton pad soaked in CBD oil.
4.Boost Your Metabolism
We believe every body is a summer body! But, if you are looking to make some changes to how you eat this summer then keep reading. CBD increases metabolism while at the same time reducing hunger? Of course, we're no miracle CBD oil, but a little boost never hurt anyone!
5. Summer Sun and Frizzy Hair
When we think of summer it often goes hand-in-hand with water. From pools full of chlorine to the salt of the oceans means often your hair gets a bit fried and frizzy. CBD is not just great for your skin but also for your hair. This is just another way your new Summer BFF is going to help you out this summer. There’s not much scientific research on the benefits of CBD for the hair and scalp BUT based on what hair experts know about the oil and its nutrient profile, it’s very promising.
The first tip is to use a few drops of CBD oil into your conditioner. The steam of the shower and heat will allow the CBD to work its magic leaving your hair feeling smooth and looking silky. Did you know that hair strands are made out of protein? To strengthen and ultimately protect your hair you need to treat it at least once a week. One way you can do that is with CBD. CBD oil contains all 21 amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein (this is good!). When used regularly, it can help strengthen and fortify your hair. Not only that but it’s rich in antioxidants, like vitamins A, C, and E.
